College Entrance Exams

Colleges will accept either the SAT or the ACT.  So,  what are the main differences between the two exams?  The ACT is considered an achievement test, measuring what a student has learned at school. The SAT is an aptitude test. The SAT tests reasoning and verbal abilities. At Mayfield, we recommend that students take both the ACT and the SAT once in the Spring of their Junior year, and then take whichever test the student performed best on a second time in the Fall of Senior year.

SAT SCHOOL DAY TEST : All 11th grade students have the opportunity to take the SAT for the ODE graduation requirements & use this as a college reportable score.

Testing date: April 10th 2018. Details will be sent home as the time approaches.

This is FREE of charge and MHS will handle all registration. The test takes place during the school day. As always, the next national testing day is May and that test is given at MHS on a Saturday; you will need to register and pay for that test if you plan on taking it in May.
JUNIORS: Please click on the above to see the directions on how to send you school day SAT scores to colleges & universities.
If you are a student who has an IEP or 504, ACT may allow you to use your accommodations for the test. Please see the info graphic and follow the directions. Remember, ACT makes the final determination and not MHS. Mrs.Bobonski handles all of the accommodation requests for ACT.
