Asia

Within our Asia unit we will hit on various topics. First, students will revisit the previous religion unit be reviewing and adding Hinduism and Buddhism to religions learned. Our I can statements for this section are as follows-
I can describe the essential characteristics and features of the world's major religions.
I can show how cultural practices today were influenced by the world's major religions.
 
After we talk about religion, the class will revisit government in Asia while also looking into Market, Mixed, and Command Economies. Students will look at various governments  and economies throughout Asia and  discuss how they can impact citizens lives.  Our I can statements for this section are as follows-
I understand and can explain that the extent of citizen's liberties and responsibilities vary according to limits on government authority.
I can explain how economics answers the questions what to produce, how to produce it, and for whom to produce it for.
 
Lastly, we will look at how humans have an impact on their environment. This is completed by having students pair up and complete a project based off of different man-made structures around the world. Our I can statements for this sections are as follows-
I understand and can explain that variations among physical environments within the Eastern Hemisphere influence human activities, and that human activities also alter the environment.
