COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Career Based Intervention (CBI) program offered through Excel TECC, is designed to serve students 16 years of age or older. The program is aimed specifically at helping students become motivated toward education and exploring work experience. The CBI program is also designed to assist students who possess barriers to career and academic success. The program uses work-based learning experiences and gaining competencies to achieve a successful path to career options. CBI is based on the key principles of higher student expectations, studying the common curriculum of the school, providing authentic learning opportunities, having suppportive structures, and establishing a sense of belonging. Student must have a job outside the school day. Student will receive one credit for CBI related, up to three credits for work experience [120 work hours=1 credit] and up to five credits in virtual learning (computer-based learning) and/or traditional classroom model instruction.
