K-5 Physical & Health Education

Physical Education Program Information

The students participate within a program that focuses on developing physically literate individuals.  A physically literate person can...

1.  Demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.
2.  Apply knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.
3.  Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.

4.  Exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others.

5.  Recognize the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.

Footwear & Clothing

It is desired that each student arrives to classes wearing athletic shoes that are appropriate for physical activity on a wooden gym floor.  These types of shoes can either be worn right from home or brought to school in a bag.         Students will always have the opportunity to change into appropriate footwear prior to classes.  If a student arrives to a class with footwear that may increase the risk of injury, then I will have them sit out as a safety precaution.  As for clothing, each student should wear whatever will be comfortable for them while moving around.
