MAYFIELD VILLAGE – The oath of office was given to Mayfield’s newest School Board members during the Board’s organizational meeting on Jan. 6th.Daniel Carlson of Highland Heights and Pete Glynos of Mayfield Heights were sworn in to their first term of office by district Treasurer Scott Snyder.Both Mr. Carlson and Mr. Glynos are graduates of Mayfield High School. They join current school board members George Hughes, Sue Groszek and Al Hess.Mr. Glynos and Mr. Carlson were elected in November during uncontested races. They replace Peg Toomey who served the school board for 12 years and Chuck Abbey who served the district for 4 years. Ms. Toomey and Mr. Abbey were publicly thanked for their years of service during the meeting.Mr. Hughes, who also was reelected to the school board in November, was reappointed Board President. Ms. Groszek will serve the board as its Vice President.The Mayfield Board of Education will continue to meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month unless otherwise noted.
