What is Yoga?
Yoga is the practice of a series of poses (asana) that build strength, balance, flexibility, and focus combined with BREATH. Yoga (from which we get the English word "yoke") aims to integrate the mental and the physical through sharpening our awareness of our body and motion and the calming and invigorating effect of the breath. Yoga is an excellent activity for all those who would like to stay fit, as well as achieve focus and calm.
The objective of yoga club is to practice yoga postures while learning about how yoga can be used to manage stress, improve the mind-body connection, and increase strength and flexibility. We will be practicing a vinyasa style of yoga, which combines movement, breath, and meditation to foster flexibility, relaxation, and self awareness. You will learn the basic yoga poses (asana), healthy alignment, and yogic breathing.
