"... it provides one of the most comprehensive set of educational services to gifted children that I have seen in any public school district in my 30 years of work in the field of gifted child education." Dr. James R. Delisle
This quote is from a formal program evaluation of AEP completed during the 2007-2008 school year by Dr. James R. Delisle - a nationally renowned expert in the field of gifted child education. He goes on to say,
"I do not give such accolades lightly. But in working with the MCS for almost a decade, this I have learned: the successes within AEP happened because of an enormous commitment to excellence on the part of virtually every member of this vibrant learning community. Quality such as that provided within AEP is achieved only through intention, never by accident. Everyone involved with AEP at any level, whether it be the Board of Education's support of AEP staff positions, the Coordinator and gifted intervention specialists, or the classroom teachers with AEP students in their classrooms everyday, can take pride in knowing that the gifted students of MCS are being treated with a comprehensive collection of educational options that meet their intellectual, academic, social and emotional needs."

AEP Mission Statement:
Based on the mandates from the State of Ohio and current knowledge in the field of education for students who are gifted, AEP strives to address the unique needs and interests of those students identified as gifted. The learning environment for gifted children involves a variety of service options and flexible groupings with students of the same and different abilities via the gifted intervention specialist model.
Philosophy:
The Mayfield City Schools are committed to an educational program that recognizes the unique value, needs and talents of the individual student. The Academic Enrichment Program (AEP), an integral part of this commitment, is designed to meet the specific needs of intellectually talented children. AEP provides a structure that not only strengthens the academic abilities of talented students but also promotes multiple opportunities for individual growth.
