Two
Excel TECC students in the Junior Early Childhood Education
competed in the FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders
of America) Regional Skills Contest at the University of Akron
on Saturday, March 5th.
Kylene Bandelow (Mayfield HS) won the Gold Medal in Language
and Literacy. She presented a Big Book story (school-age group)
to the judges and also had an Art lesson as the extension activity.
Her score was 92.5.
LoRe'al Menefield (Mayfield HS) won the Gold Medal in Learning
Game/Toy. She made a toy (toddler group)which she called 'Number
This Shape' and presented it to judges. Her score was 95.5.
LoRe'al qualified for the state contest and will compete on
April 14th in Columbus.
UPDATE:
Winners again at the FCCLA State competitions...Kylene accepted
the Gold Medal in Language and Literacy and LoRe'al scored Gold
Medal in the Learning Game/Toy contest.

OHIO TECH PREP SHOWCASE
Four
Interactive Media students entered the Northeast Ohio Tech Prep
Showcase and walked away with first prize. The students competed
against eight other Northeast Ohio teams in the Multimedia category.
Their entry consisted of an interactive multimedia computer rendition
of 'TECC-OPOLY' - featuring Excel TECC programs as the base for
the game board and pieces and parts of a Monopoly-like game. Congratulations

Pioneer Chruch Library Management System
Project
Overview: The project was commissioned by Pioneer Church in Solon,
Ohio to develop a management, inventory and circulation solution
for thier church's library. The application was developed using
Microsft Visual Basic.NET, Microsift Access Database, and SQL
Script. The application has been delivered and is being used by
Pioneer Church, and is being considered for adoption by at least
two other area churches. The program was developed in such a way
that it can be used by any type of organization and customized
for that organization with minimal effort by the programming team.

US Navy, ASVAB Primer
Project
Overview: Project was developed to fulfill a request by the local
Navy Recruiting officer to develop a solution to aid in preparation
and remediation for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery,
refered to as the ASVAB test. Using Visual Basic.NET, SQL Script,
and Access database, a dynamic tutorial environment is created.
Students can practice for the exam, track their progress, identify
areas of weakness and remediate. The test deliverer can add, delete
and edit questions, monitor student progress and facilitate exams
in a secure, password protected application.
