The Academy is an accredited, half-day, high school performing arts program, which takes place during the school year, during school hours. Students are chosen for the Academy by audition.
The Academy offers both morning and afternoon sessions. Each group studies a wide range of performing arts courses in the Chagrin Falls High School Drama wing, which includes a new $6M performing arts center and a wonderfully intimate black-box theatre.
Classes consist of training in acting, voice, movement, musical theatre, technical theatre, audition, dance, stage combat, make-up and other exciting creative learning opportunities. In addition to challenging and fun classes, there will be opportunities for performance in fully mounted productions and student plays, along with special workshops led by guest artists from the professional theatre.

INTERVIEW & DOCUMENTS: An informal interview will also take place. Students are to submit a resume, and provide a headshot or a school picture with their application. The student will also be requested to provide one letter of recommendation from a theatre, drama, or music program that they have been involved with or a character reference.

SCHOOL RECORDS: Students will only be considered if they have a 2.5 grade point average or above, and a good school discipline and attendance record.

• PERFORMANCE: All productions at the Academy
are voluntary. However, if a student chooses to audition
for an Academy production, he or she must clear their schedule to accomodate rehearsals and performance. Students who cannot provide a schedule reasonably free of conflicts will not be allowed to audition for a production. Academy students are also encouraged to participate in community theatre productions or at their home high school. Should a student decide to participate in an Academy production, he or she must commit to time outside of normal class hours and the school day for rehearsal and
performance. Students must provide their own transportation to after school rehearsals and evening events.

•PROGRAM PARTICIPATION AND ATTITUDE:
The opportunity to study at a Performing Arts Academy is a privilege. Students must come to the Academy with an open and teachable spirit. No student will be allowed to continue in the Academy who shows disrespect to his or her fellow actors, to the teacher or to the curriculum in general. Students will not make fun of one anothers' work. All dress codes and rules of behavior of Chagrin Falls High School will be strictly enforced. Excessive unexcused absences, consistent tardiness, violence, drugs or alcohol use will be cause for dismissal.
