EARLY
CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Site:
Alpha Park; KinderCare/Highland Heights; Fairmount Preschool/Beachwood
Two year program
Early
Childhood Education prepares students for careers with the young
child. From teaching and day care positions to social work and
working with special needs children - it all begins in early childhood
education. High school students teach and care for young children
in pre-school and elementary school settings.
The first year stresses basic skills needed to
work with children. Music, art, storytelling, along with safety
and guidance skills are included. Second year students expand
on-the-job experiences with infants through school-aged children.
Students also have opportunities to work with special-needs children.
Completion of this program articulates directly into a Child Development
associate credential and/or an associate degree in Early Childhood
Education. Students could also pursue a four year degree in early
childhood education or another field related to child development.
