Honors Biology 1 or Honors Chemistry with at least a 3.0GPA
Completed Algebra 2
High school cumulative 2.0GPA or better

Student must pass two final exams in Biology and Biotechnology administered by a Tri-C faculty representative
Maintain a 3.0 GPA or better in the Biotechnology College

CREDITS
EARNED AT CUYAHOGA COMMUNITY COLLEGE - TOTAL up to 15 semester hours:
Biotechnology
has been used to produce freezeresistant crops, insulin for diabetics,
a vaccine against hepatitis, oil eating microbes, stone-washed
blue jeans, and improved detergents.
The Biotechnology Program prepares students for post secondary
education at the college level which would then allow pursuit
of work in the bioscience industry and academia in the areas of
research and development, quality systems, production, clinical
testing, and diagnostic work.
The student will study contemporary biological sciences, discussing
scientific hot topics, ranging from bioterrorism to human cloning.
The course content will include topics and principles of experimental
design centered on focal topics selected to reflect the many aspects
of Biotechnology. Topics will reflect current biological issues,
emerging techniques and relevant problems extending into the everyday
affairs of the student.

MEDICAL
CAREERS TECHNOLOGY

One-year Junior/Senior option program
The
Medical Careers Technology program prepares and develops attitudes,
practices and technical skills necessary to obtain employment
in a variety of health care occupations. The students will be
provided with the instruction and hands-on experience to assist
physicians and dentists, do direct patient care, conduct basic
laboratory tests, and perform office
management duties.
The
senior student will participate in early placement during the
second semester giving the student experience in several medical
occupational areas in an acute care hospital. Students must be
able to provide their own transportation.

MEDICAL

COLLEGE TECH PREP
Two-year program
The
Medical Technologies program prepares students with an interest
in the medical occupations to develop the attitudes, practices
and technical skills to
obtain employment in medical, dental and diagnostic treatment
facilities and to continue their education in a post-secondary
institution in the medical/dental or diagnostic sciences.
The students will participate in instructional, laboratory and
clinical experiences designed to prepare individuals in direct
patient care, diagnostic, therapeutic and treatment options. Students
will participate in a paid internship under the supervision of
physicians, dentists, nurses, emergency personnel, therapists
and other allied health staff.
The course is intended for those students who are serious about
an educational future in the medical/dental sciences. It is a
College Tech Prep program that articulates with colleges allowing
some students to receive college credit in high school.
