Exercise Science & Sports Rehabilitation

Two-year program: grades 11-12

Do you strive to promote healthy living? Do you enjoy helping people meet their wellness and athletic performance goals? Do you like assisting others as they recuperate from an injury or illness? If you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, you may be interested in the field of Exercise Science and/or Sports Medicine.
    This health science program will help you learn the basics of diagnosing, treating, and preventing injuries related to sports and exercise. Exercise Science & Sports Rehabilitation also offers real work experience through shadowing and clinical hours in an approved healthcare facility. Students wishing to attend college will have a solid foundation for a declared major in any health related field. Students may be required to join Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) student organization and may compete in local, regional, state & national activities. CPR certification applies to this program.

  • Education: Malone University-Bachelor degree/Exercise Science; Kent State University-Graduate Certificate(post-bachelors certificate)/Career-Technical Teacher Education.
  • Work Experience: Exercise Science Teacher (9 yrs); Health/Fitness Industry Experience - exercise physiology, strength & conditioning coaching, personal training (16 yrs).
  • Professional Certifications: Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
  • Professional Memberships: NSCA, Association for Career and Technical Education.
  • Hobbies: Spending time with family, working out, reading.

Additional Information

 Credits:  3 credits each year (2 Courses/yr-1.5 credits each)

      •     CT2 - up to 9 sem hrs/all OH
