Objectives for the week of 9-6


This week, the students will use correctly in Spanish the subjunctive mood after verbs of emotion; they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing the book "Por Que Somos Diferentes?".
For Tuesday, 9-6, please finish the current chapter of "...Somos Diferentes"
There will be a quiz over Chapter 5 of Barrier (Left column and grammar points B and C) on Thursday, 9-8. It will be worth 35 points. 
For Monday, 9-12, please read the first 4 pages of the next chapter of ...Somos Diferentes.

For Thursday, 9-16, please finish chapter 3 of Por Que Somos Diferentes.
 
For Monday, 9-19, please read pages 39-42 of Por Que Somos Diferentes. 
 
There will be a Unit 5 test on Thursday, 9-22. Make sure to know all vocabulary and all grammar points from the Unit.

There will be a Unit 5 test on Thursday, 9-22. Make sure to know all vocabulary and all grammar points from the Unit.

This week, the students will use correctly in Spanish the past subjunctive mood and the pluperfect subjunctive; they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing cultural differences in the world via the book "Por Que Somos Diferentes?".
 
For Wednesday, 9-28, please read pages 53-56 in Por Que Somos Diferentes.
 
For Thursday, 9-29, please read and complete Chapter 6A in Barrier. You'll also want to start studying the left column of vocabulary in preparation for a quiz next week. 
 
For Tuesday, 10-4, please complete Chp. 6B in Barrier. 
 
On Thursday, 10-6, there will be a 45 point quiz over chapter 6 vocabulary (left column) and Grammar Points A and B in Chapter 6.

For Tuesday, 10-11, please finish chapter 5 in Por Que Somos Diferentes.
For Thursday, 10-13, please read and complete Chapter 6C in Barrier. You'll also want to start studying the right column of vocabulary in preparation for a quiz next week (the last week of the quarter).
For Monday, 10-17, please read pages 69-72 in Por Que Somos Diferentes.
For Tuesday, 10-18, please complete Chapter 6D in Barrier. 
There will be a chapter 6 Barrier test the week of 10-24. Please make sure that you are studying the vocabulary and grammar from this chapter little by little.

For Thursday, 10-27, please finish chapter 6 of "Por Que Somos Diferentes". 
There will be a Chapter 6 Test (Barrier) on Monday, 10-31. Please make sure to know all vocabulary, as well as the grammar points A, B, C and D.

For Monday, 11-7, please complete 7B in Barrier.
For Wednesday, 11-9, please read pages 79-82 in "Por que somos diferentes?"
Please start preparing for a Chapter 7 A and B quiz, along with the left column of the vocabulary list found on p. 164. This quiz will be worth 45 points and will take place Monday, 11-14.
 
For Thursday, 11-17, please complete 7C AND 7D of Barrier. The Barrier Chapter 7 Unit Test will be Thursday, December 1. 
 
For Wednesday, 11-16, please finish Chapter 7 of Por Que Somos Diferentes. 
 
For Monday, 11-28, please finish Chapter 8 of Por Que Somos Diferentes. 
 
For Tuesday, 12-6, please complete Por Que Somos Diferentes.  =)

  This week, the students will use correctly the subjunctive with expressions of doubt and with impersonal expressions; they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing cultural differences in the world via the book "Por Que Somos Diferentes?".
For Monday, 11-28, please have your oral presentation about a trip that you have taken prepared. Make sure to refer to the rubric for the specifics.
For Wednesday, 11-9, please read pages 79-82 in "Por que somos diferentes?"
Please start preparing for a Chapter 7 A and B quiz, along with the left column of the vocabulary list found on p. 164. This quiz will be worth 45 points and will take place Monday, 11-14.
 
For Thursday, 11-17, please complete 7C AND 7D of Barrier. The Barrier Chapter 7 Unit Test will be Thursday, December 1. 
 
There will be a 60 point Barrier Chapter 8 test Wednesday, December 14 or Thursday, December 15. You will need to know all material in the chapter.  
 
For Monday, December 5, please finish Chapter 8 of Por Que Somos Diferentes. 
 
For Monday, 12-12, please complete Por Que Somos Diferentes.  =)

This week, the students will use correctly the past subjunctive with the conditional tense to talk about what were to happen...; they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing cultural differences in the world via the book "Por Que Somos Diferentes?".
 
For Monday, 12-12, please finish "Por Que Somos Diferentes". 
 
There will be a 35 point Barrier Chapter 8 C and D quiz (along with the right column of vocabulary) Wednesday, December 14 or Thursday, December 15.

Objectives for the weeks of 1-4 and 1-9, and 1-17

This week, the students will use correctly the Impersonal "Se",  they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; and they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing a short story written in the Spanish Langauge. 
 
For Monday, 1-9, please read the short story "Los Chicos" and answer all questions that follow it, with the exception of "Preguntas de Discusion".
 
For Wednesday, 1-11, please read and complete Chapter 9A in Barrier.  
 
For Tuesday, 1-17, please complete Chapter 9B in Barrier.
 
There will be a 40 point quiz over Barrer Chapter 9 A and B, as well as the left column of vocabulary on Thursday, 1-19. 

Objectives for the weeks of 1-30 and 2-6-17

This week, the students will use correctly "Por vs. Para", they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; and they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing a short story written in the Spanish Langauge.
For Monday, 1-30, please complete Chapter 9C in Barrier.
For Wednesday, 2-1, please complete 9D in Barrier. 
 For Monday, 2-6, please read the short story "Silencio Para Seis" and answer all questions that follow it, with the exception of "Preguntas de Discusion".
For Tuesday, 2-7, please complete the Prueba de Repaso in Chapter 9 of Barrier. 
 
There will be a Barrier Chapter 9 Test on Friday, February 10. Make sure to know all vocabulary and the 4 grammar points. This test will be worth 56 points.

This week, the students will use correctly adverbs in Spanish, they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; and they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing a short story written in the Spanish Langauge.
For Wednesday, 2-15 please complete Chapter 10A in Barrier.
For Tuesday, 2-21, please complete 10B in Barrier.
For Monday, 2-27, please read the short story "Hasta que llegan las doce" and answer all questions that follow it, with the exception of "Preguntas de Discusion".
 
There will be a Barrier Chapter 10 A and B and Left Column quiz on Tuesday, February 28. Make sure to know all vocabulary and the 2 grammar points. This quiz will be worth 35 points.

This week, the students will use correctly adverbs, articles and relative pronouns correctly in Spanish, they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; and they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing a short story written in the Spanish Langauge.
For Monday, 2-27, please read the short story "Hasta que llegan las doce" and answer all questions that follow it, with the exception of "Preguntas de Discusion".
There will be a Barrier Chapter 10 A and B and Left Column quiz on Tuesday, February 28. Make sure to know all vocabulary and the 2 grammar points. This quiz will be worth 35 points.
For Monday, 3-6, please complete Barrier Chp. 10 C.
For Wednesday, 3-8, please complete Barrier Chp. 10 D. 
 
Please read "Miercoles" for Wednesday, March 15.  There will be a short quiz over the content and a class discussion on this day. You will also need answer the questions that follow the story. 

There will be a Barrier Chapter 10 Test (all vocabulary and Grammar) on Monday, March 20. It will be worth 60 points.

This week, the students will use correctly Possessive Adjectives, Ordinal and Cardinal Numbers, and the word "LO" correctly in Spanish, they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; and they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing a short story written in the Spanish Langauge.
The story "El Huesped de la Maestra" is due Thursday, 4-6. You will need to be ready to take a quiz over it, discuss it, and have the questions that follow it answered.
 
For Tuesday 4-4, please complete Barrier Chp. 11 A.
For Monday, 4-10, please complete Barrier Chp. 11 B. 
 
There will be a Barrier Chp. 11 A, B, and Left Column Vocabulary quiz Tuesday, April 17. This quiz will be worth 30 points.

Objectives for the weeks of 4-18 and 4-24-17

The story "Jacinto Contreras Recibe su Paga Extraordinaria" is due Monday 4-24. You will need to be ready to take a quiz over it, discuss it, and have the questions that follow it answered.
The story "Cartas de Amor Traicionado" will be due Monday, May 8. Again, be prepared to discuss it, take a quiz over the content, and have the questions that follow completed.
For Wednesday, 4-19, please complete Barrier Chp. 11 C.
For Friday, 4-21, please complete Barrier Chp. 11D and E.  
For Tuesday, 4-25, please complete the Chapter 11 Prueba de Repaso.

This week, the students will use correctly Pero vs. Sino, Reflexive and Reciprocal Constructions and Temporal Expressions correctly in Spanish, they will listen with increased comprehension to Spanish spoken at native pace; and they will speak with increased fluency in answering questions and discussing a short story written in the Spanish Langauge.
There is a 30 point quiz over Barrier Chp. 12 A, B and the left column Tuesday, May 9.
There will be a 45 point Barrier Chapter 12 Test (all vocabulary and grammar) Thursday, May 18. Make sure to know all material in Chp. 12.
The story "Cartas de Amor Traicionado" is due Monday, 5-8. You will need to be ready to take a quiz over it, discuss it, and have the questions that follow it answered.
For Tuesday, May 2, please complete Barrier Chp. 12 A and B.

The next 2 classes will take place Monday, July 10 at 11:30 AM and Tuesday, July 18 at 11:00, both in room 205.
