At this point the 2009/2010 school year is well underway. I would like to invite all
parents who have not already, but especially those of our eighth graders, to join the PTSO
(Parent Teacher Student Organization). One of the most vital ways that we raise funds are our
membership dues of $15 per family and $5 for staff. Some of the programs we sponsor include
Staff Appreciation, Yearbook, Afterprom, 16th Birthday Breakfasts, and the annual Seniors
Picnic at the end of the year. We also awarded scholarships to 6 graduates last spring. Many
thanks to all who have already joined our organization!
Our monthly meetings (except in December) take place in the High School IMC library
down the hall from the 10/12 entrance to the school. Normally meetings take place the second
Monday of each month at 7:00 as listed in the school calendar. They provide a valuable
opportunity to become acquainted with other High School parents and learn about some of the
most important happenings in our building. Our agendas include reports from the principals,
Student Council, and the various committees, as well as brief presentations from a range of
various speakers of interest. I encourage you to attend.
Besides membership, our other significant fundraiser is the Heinen’s ABC School Program.
Heinen’s gives back to us one percent of enrolled customer qualified purchases from
September to April when you are a member of their Tasteful Awards program, and you designate
Mayfield High School as the school of your choice. This must be redone each year and
can be accessed through the following link: www.heinensrewards.com. This is a very easy way
for us to raise funds with very little effort from our supporters.
We are also still selling our machine washable Mayfield Wildcat stadium blankets, and
they were very popular this fall at the football games. Order forms are available below.
They make wonderful holiday gifts for anyone who appreciates Mayfield High School!
If you have any questions regarding PTSO, or would like to know how you can become
involved, feel free to contact me – navitale@vitaq.net. Please take the time to read and enjoy
the year’s first edition of the PTSO bulletin. I hope everyone has a warm and wonderful
holiday season!!!!!
