Class Description:
This is Mr. Kuenzel's Second Grade Class! In this class we are all part of the Kuenzel Family. Together, we will make this a very successful year!
In regards to homework, please keep in mind that sometimes "life" gets in the way, and if it is impossible to complete an assignment.... Don't worry, just write me a quick note and let me know.
Please know that your child's safety, education, and wellbeing are of my utmost concern.

I hope that all the mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day!!
The spelling this week and next will focus on the Second Grade Core Words.
In math we are working on fractions.
Our read aloud is Ramona and her Father.
Please continue to utilize Raz-Kids... The kids LOVE it!!!

- Tuesday Reading Response
Every Tuesday a reading response article will come home. Please read it with your child and have them answer the questions. As time goes on, please have them attempt to read the text independently. Every Friday, your child will come home with their journal. If they did not write to you yet, please have them write to you about their week.
Please focus more on content rather than grammar and spelling.

Please have your student study their math facts everyday!!
Work on a few a day if you would like.
On Thursday, have your child take a practice test at home.

Please have your child read everyday!!!
The more you read, the better reader you become. They can read to themselves, or try having your child read to you, a sibling, a pet, etc.
You can also read to them! Not only will they cherish the moment they spend with you, but they will pick up on your great reading habits and fluency....
**It is important to note that books that they choose to read themselves are "just right" books and they are not too easy and not too hard!**

Sometimes your child will have an activity or another type of math practice worksheet. This will be a reinforcement from a previous lesson or extra practice from the day's lesson.Assign On: 9/10/2012Due: 6/7/2013 - Weekly DSA (Spelling)
Weekly DSA words may be different for everyone. Every Monday, students receive their spelling pattern. Please study the pattern, not so much the words. There are several ways to practice the spelling pattern. - Sort the words in a pattern
- Write the words in sugar/Gelatin
- Write the words in sentences
- Write the words 5 times each
- Create a story with the words.
- Sort in different ways: speed sorts, open sorts, closed sorts
