Our Millridge staff would like to
begin by wishing all a joyous holiday season where families and friends
enjoy each other's company. As the month of November comes to close and December
begins tomorrow, we are all continuously thankful for your support and look
forward to finishing the first semester with your children on a positive
note!
December is always a busy month,
with so much that can occupy our time, but know that we will continue to
provide students with high interest learning experiences in each classroom at
Millridge.
Here are some great
experiences that have happened or will occur during the month of
December:
Our #onlyonemillridge rock garden is really taking shape! If you have not had an opportunity to see the vibrant colors gracing the playground side of our building, please stop by on a weekend or one day after school. It is truly incredible to see the unique ways our students have presented what means the most to them! Together we have achieved something great!
We have
truly begun the design process for what will become Millridge's first outdoor
classroom. Student volunteers had the opportunity last and this week to
take feedback from their classmates and draw a 2-D design of what this space
could be. Next steps are coming soon for this group of students, but I
can honestly say that the mind of child is truly amazing! The ideas they
have are some of the best work I have seen. ALL of the feedback was
STUDENT-DRIVEN and our community will benefit from the final
product.
We have two holiday season drive's that will benefit those in need. Coats for Kids has a bin available in our atrium for your donations of gently used coats. We are also working hard to support one of our students in her desire to donate used shoes to those in need. Thank you to the Shiban family for organizing this event. Here is a description straight from the source:
Do you have
old shoes you would like to recycle? Please donate your gently used shoes,
(adult and children sizes), to the American Heritage Girl Shoe Drive. AHG,
Sophia Shiban will be collecting shoes through Friday December 15th in the main
entrance near the office and needs your help to collect 2,500 pairs by December
15th! The shoes collected are used to support micro-businesses
operated by families in developing countries.?
Should you be interested in viewing a free copy of the Northeast Ohio Parent Magazine for December, please use the following link to read it online. I would like to close by thanking
our absolutely fantastic Winter Workshop volunteers for their total dedication
to an awesome event today (and tomorrow) for our children. This continues
to be a strong tradition that students truly enjoy!
May your holiday season be blessed
with good times with family (and a minimal amount of stress)! If you are
a parent of a Kindergarten student, I'm looking forward to seeing you on
Monday, December 18th at 7 p.m. for a festive sing-a-long in our Millridge gym,
led by our Kindergarten team.
Go Wildcats!
