Welcome Millridge Kindergarten Families!

Welcome Millridge Kindergarten families!

The thrill of new beginnings and welcoming students to Millridge Elementary School is contagious and we are thankful that you and your child can be a part of it!

We are truly looking forward to working with you and your child in the year ahead. Please take a few moments to review the information below. It is our hope that this will answer many questions that you may have about the first week of school for your Kindergartener.

  • We will welcome you and your child to Millridge on the day and time communicated to you by our office staff for our screening process. Should you have misplaced this information, please contact our office at 440-995-7250. This process provides our Kindergarten team the opportunity to gather some valuable information that will help us make the best possible decision when it comes to placing your child with their teacher. Mrs. Gamiere, our School Counselor and I will also join you to share important information regarding what you, as a parent, and your child, as a student can expect during their Kindergarten year. Dr. Bradic, our Assistant Principal will then take you on a tour of the building prior to arriving back at our meeting location to receive your child following their screening process. The process will occur for an hour and thirty minutes, but we may finish earlier than this time frame. There will be some paperwork to fill out at the meeting that will also make the first few days run smoothly for your child. It is important to us that they begin their educational career at Mayfield on a positive note!

  • *Placement decisions are made throughout the week with each parent receiving a phone call from a Millridge staff member with the name of your child’s Kindergarten teacher. All phone calls will be made by Thursday afternoon, August 17. Class lists will also be posted outside of the Kindergarten classrooms on the evening of August 17.

  • We cordially invite you to come back to Millridge on Thursday, August 17 at 5:00 p.m. to meet your child’s teacher and drop off their school supplies in their classroom. Please enter the building through the main office entrance or our pre-school entrance on the opposite side of the building facing Millridge Road. This is an open house format, so if you are unable to arrive at 5:00, please come when you and your Kindergarten child are able to do so at any time prior to 5:45. Between 5:45 and 6:00 p.m. a Mayfield school bus will be at Millridge should you wish to take a brief ride with your student. This beneficial opportunity can assist our young students who do not have experience riding a school bus prior to their first day at Millridge.

  • *The first day of attendance for Kindergarten students will be Friday, August
18th. Student supervision begins at 7:30 a.m. and the instructional day will start at
8:00. Both car drop-off and bus transportation are available options for your child. More information about the arrival and dismissal process will be shared with you during your screening appointment.

In closing, we would like to welcome you to a fun and exciting tradition at Millridge to begin the year. Popsicles with the Principals will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, August 14th near our playground for all to come and enjoy time together prior to our first day of school for students in grades 1-5. Even though Kindergarten students first day of school is not until August 18th we encourage you to come and join in on this fun event! School supply drop off for grades 1-5 will occur on this date, but as a reminder, will occur for Kindergarten on the evening of August 17th once your child’s homeroom placement is finalized.

We look forward to seeing you and your child throughout the upcoming week. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our main office (440-995-7250). We are happy to help!

Go Wildcats!
