One School One Book (OSOB) has arrived at Millridge and we could not be happier to engage in this special program with your child! In the coming days, you will experience some great things so that all are as excited as we are to begin this family-centered reading initiative.
This all-school book club will begin on Monday, January 29th and will conclude on Wednesday, February 21st. Every child will receive a copy of the selected book to read during the program and will be able to hang on to it as a keepsake for years to come.
It is extremely important to THANK our parents who encouraged their students to participate in our fall fundraiser read-a-thon and especially our generous Millridge PTG - without either of these two groups of individuals, we would not be able to offer this fantastic program.
As we begin OSOB at Millridge Elementary, we encourage you to share in all of the excitement of the book and are looking forward to hearing all of the stories that come from reading with your child!
And now for the fun stuff…
- In school, your child will be able to answer daily trivia questions based upon what was read the night before - prizes will be available once students have successfully earned a BINGO on the trivia bingo board. This fun activity will occur each and every school day morning!
- Teaser trailers will be coming your way in the weeks ahead that will give you and your child clues as to which book our team has selected. The book will be a secret until our kick-off assembly on Monday, January 29th.
- On January 29th, you will receive a copy of a calendar, complete with a schedule of chapters to read, as well as some additional details about prizes, exciting events, and a final culminating event to conclude this great experience.
- Teachers may be including some fun extension activities in their plans during the program - ask your child about them and have fun learning more and more about the characters in the book.
We believe you will continue to love nightly reading time with your child and will look forward to what happens next in the selected story. Enjoy...and happy READING!
We truly want this to be a huge and successful club that you and your child are all welcome to join! Therefore, please use this program as your daily reading time as opposed to any reading logs teachers usually require during other times of our school year. Reading to and with your child is a great way to spend time together each evening!
