Nov. 27, 2017
Dear Mayfield Teachers, Staff and Community,
Thank you for your ongoing consideration as we continue to voice our
concerns about Ohio’s proposed education legislation and its impact on our
Mayfield City Schools.
Once again, I am asking you to review an important piece of
legislation, House Bill 200. This proposed legislation would use public school
funding for the expansion of the voucher system which would negatively impact
many of the programs we provide to the students of our district.
H.B. 200 would expand vouchers
statewide to all districts, regardless of academic report card rating, for
students whose household income is at or below 400 percent of the federal
poverty level. Given the confusion over the existing school funding formula, it
is unclear where additional dollars would come from to support expansion of the
existing voucher program.
I respectfully voice my opposition to H.B.
200. Please consider sharing your thoughts about H.B. 200 with our
representatives.
