CONTRACT WITH THE COMMUNITY – Program relocations will give students and teachers improved space for learning
MAYFIELD HEIGHTS -- Superintendent Keith Kelly and the Mayfield Board of Education are pleased to announce a strategic decision to relocate three Excel TECC programs and the Mayfield Preschool to offer students and teachers improved space for learning.
At Excel TECC, the Construction Trades program will move from its location at Mayfield High School to the career technical campus adjacent to the Welding and Auto Service programs in Willoughby. The Cosmetology program will move from MHS to a storefront-type location at Alpha Park in Highland Heights. The Career Based Intervention program also will move to office and classroom space at Alpha Park.

β€œAt the end of the day, its providing the best learning environments for our students to be successful when they graduate. Our Mayfield vision is to continue to do what we do, better. This plan puts our vision in action,” said Superintendent Keith Kelly.
Relocation of the programs will begin at the end of the first semester during the upcoming 2017-18 school year. The vacated spaces will then be used to house the Mayfield Preschool program from Millridge Elementary to address the ever-increasing need for space and the ongoing overcrowding at the elementary school. The renovated preschool space will open for the 2018-19 school year and will include classrooms, a playground and a secure stand-alone entrance. The preschool curriculum also will give high school students who aspire to work with children the opportunity to work in the classroom.

In addition to the Mayfield Preschool program, the MHS space also will be converted into a modern day, 21st century learning environment where students will create projects, solve product problems and engage in cross-curricular learning. Over time, district leaders anticipate involving business and industry experts to provide additional learning opportunities with students. A similar space will be created at Mayfield Middle School during the renovation and is set to open there for the 2018-19 school year.
