Pizza Roma is the Proud Sponsor of MHS Wildcat Student of the Month!
Mayfield High School Staff members like to recognize students who depict “The Wildcat Way.”
Each month a department will collaborate and choose a student to be “The Wildcat Student of the Month.”  Our Student of the Month is featured on our school’s website and receives a free pizza from Pizza Roma.
This month, the Word Languages department recognizes Sydney Ference as May’s Student of the Month!
Sydney is a quiet person in general, but blossoms when she is in her French 2 class.  When I incorporate culture into the lesson, you can tell that Sydney has researched in-depth about the topic to learn the most she can.  Always willing to add to a discussion, Sydney always adds great details.
Sydney is not afraid to work!  Her assignments are always done to the highest degree.  Her test scores are excellent, and her participation in class is 100%.  She notices the little grammar details and then internalizes them for use the next time.  It is easy to see that Sydney loves learning.
Sydney traveled to Quebec with a school group this year and at each opportunity, she tried her language skills out on the natives.  What a feeling to know that she could converse with a “Quebecois” and be understood!  Thank you for trying something out of your comfort zone!
In Italian, Sydney is in AP as a junior. She keeps up with her assignments with fidelity and diligence. She loves anything related to language and culture. She asks relevant questions, researches topics in depth and with an innate curiosity. Sydney also comes to class ready to learn, with a positive attitude and a smile. She has a sense of humor yet focused attention. Her work is on point, and she strives for excellence. She is an absolute pleasure to teach.
Sydney will be traveling to Italy next summer. She has so much passion for the Italian language and culture, and this trip will be a culmination of her hard work and dedication. Next year, she will also be doing an independent study in advanced literature and writing. She will be the first student to do this, and she is so excited to extend her knowledge beyond the AP program.
Kudos to Sydney Ference for being a kind and considerate person and working hard to master two world languages!
