Millridge Summer Update July 2019
Hello Mustang families!

I hope this message finds you well, enjoying the sunny weather and great temperatures!  I know many of you are still in summer mode (and you should be), but believe it or not our school year is less than one month away.  Students arrive back to THEIR school on Thursday, August 15th.

In the meantime, I would like to update you on a number of things that will highlight the start of our year:

-  The brand new Mustang Maker Zone is well under way!  Students will experience innovative learning experiences such as robotics, coding, circutiry (and much more) that directly coorespond with a personalized appraoch to learning.  Stay tuned for pictures and more information in the coming weeks that will hightlight what will be accomplished by students during this part of their specials rotation.  Rest assured that students will continue to read during this time while also participating in a hands-on, collaborative, and creative learning approach.   A HUGE shout-out to our PTG for truly supporting this innovative space through fundraisers and their collective enthusiasm for this type of learning.

-  First, Fourth, and Fifth grade students will walk into their classrooms on the 15th and see some more flexible seating options.  Students have spoken and their wishes for non-traditional types of seating have been heard - we look forward to continuing this trend in future years as it benefits their learning styles.

-  Our House System will be back and even better this year!  We can't wait to see what our students in Houses Aimtinan, Onesta, Pono, Ububele, Vertrauen, and Wajibu will bring to the table.  Our continued focus on Essentials, and specifically our student core four, will bring about respect throughout the building.  You can also look forward to more House celebrations and a grade-level wide points system for following the Essentials.

Please look for important dates to be shared again on a separate posting, especially for our new students, including Kindergarteners!

Have a great month and see all of you shortly!
