WELCOME BACK, Wildcats!

August 26, 2022

Dear Mayfield teachers staff, students, parents and community,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year, Wildcats!

There is no better time of year than the start of a new school year. The anticipation of what is to come - reuniting with students, seeing old friends, knowing  a blank page is waiting to be filled beckons the hope of infinite possibilities.

High performing school systems are aligned. Our work began last year after meeting with parents, teachers and students and will continue during the 22-23 school year to ensure that we reach, “Every student. Every day.”

Our shared vision as a district remains, “a promise for lifelong learning, dignity and respect for all.”  This vision is reflected in our Mayfield Portrait of a Wildcat.

Preparing students for a changing world goes beyond a rigorous curriculum; it also includes competencies that prepare our students to be college, career and life ready. The competencies of the  Portrait of a Mayfield Wildcat  include Collaboration, Critical & Creative Thinking, Curiosity, Communication, Scholarship and Personalization to support our mission, “Every Student. Every Day.”  Please click the link above to learn more about these skills and competencies.

I recently shared the words of poet Edward Everett Hale with our staff, and I share these words again with you.

"I am only one, but I am one. I can't do everything, but I can do something. That I can do, I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God I shall do."

We begin this school year ready to align for impact, to be the difference for every student and the reason every student has a great school year.

I look forward to our journey together. Welcome back, Wildcats!

Sincerely,

Michael J. Barnes,

 Superintendent
