Mayfield City Schools is excited to announce the reorganization of leadership in several key positions across the district which include Mr. Jeffrey Legan as the Director of Educational Services and Supports, Mr. Brian Linn as the Principal of Mayfield High School, Ms. Vickie Loncar as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Mr. Marc Engoglia as the Director of Transportation.

“Building on our excellence and growing through change and evaluation is how we stay aligned and become even better for our students," said Superintendent Dr. Michael Barnes. "We are thrilled to be in such an exciting time for our schools, with opportunities knocking at our door."

The positions evolved through the reorganization of organizational leadership and do not include new administrative posts. The Board of Education will take action to accept the recommended appointments at the regular Board meeting on April 26, 2023 at 6 p.m.

Mr. Legan will join Central Office as the Director of Educational Services and Supports having served Mayfield City Schools for 24 years, and the last 9 years as the Principal of Mayfield High School.
“My goal is to strive to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel welcome and supported in order to achieve at their best,” said Mr. Legan, who attended Lander Elementary as a child and graduated from Mayfield High School. “Ultimately, I want to support our teachers and staff to help their students become confident, capable and well-rounded individuals who are prepared to make a positive impact on this world.”
In his role, Mr. Legan will establish systematic and continuous improvement frameworks in grade K-12 with positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS), Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) and social emotional learning for all students.
For fun, Mr. Legan enjoys time with his family, golfing, cooking, watching Ted Lasso, and following all Cleveland sports.
Mr. Legan and his wife, Kelly, live in Chardon with their daughters, Grace, Claire and dog, Ernie.

Mr. Linn returns to Mayfield High School from Twinsburg High School where he has served as principal for the last two years, and previously served Mayfield High School as the Assistant Principal for five years.

“I believe in leadership with clarity, simplicity, and purpose. I believe passionately that every student can learn if they are given the proper tools and guidance along the way,” said Mr. Linn, who began his career in education as a Spanish teacher in Hilliard.
“I look forward to continuing the rich tradition of academic success at Mayfield High School with a spirit of innovation to help personalize the educational experience for each student.  I want to continue this important work to ensure that every student has the ability to pursue their passion.”

Mr. Linn and his wife, Andee, live in Mayfield Village with their two sons, Micah (MHS), Ben (MMS) and Golden Doodle, Buddy. They enjoy spending family time together and skiing during the winter.

Ms. Loncar will step into her role as Director of Curriculum and Instruction following the vacancy of  Dr. Patrick Ward who has accepted the Superintendent’s post at the Willoughby-Eastlake School District.

Ms. Loncar has been a familiar face at Mayfield for the last 10 years serving the students and staff as the Curriculum Coordinator.

“My experience in the curriculum department has provided me a front and center seat on the amazing journey the district has been on to personalize learning for all students,” said Ms. Loncar, who began her career as a teacher, focused on early literacy instruction.  “I have seen first hand the mantra “Every Student. Every Day.” in action in classrooms and buildings across the district. I am excited to step in and now lead this work.”

Ms. Loncar has helped to build, create and execute the Portrait of a Mayfield Wildcat, which district leaders call the “North Star” of the Mayfield education.

“I plan to continue the work we have already started and initiatives outlined by stakeholders in the Focus Forward plan. We will strive to develop the skills outlined in the Portrait of a Mayfield Wildcat  through a rigorous curriculum while providing programs and pathways to meet our students' diverse interests and needs.”

In her free time Ms. Loncar enjoys walks in the Metroparks, reading on her porch swing when weather permits and planning her next travel adventure.

Ms. Loncar lives in Kirtland. Her three grown sons, Ryan, Owen and Louie all attended The Ohio State University.

Mr. Marc Engoglia joins the Mayfield City Schools as the Director of Transportation. With 20+ years of experience in administration at the district and building level and most recently as a Principal of Facing History New Tech, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Mr. Engoglia is looking forward to a new challenge.

I’ve always considered myself to be an innovator, looking for ways to improve existing practices, yet also researching and implementing new ways to enhance the experiences of all school/district stakeholders,” said Mr. Engoglia, a proud Mayfield alum and graduate of Purdue University. “Most of our students' days begin and end with us transporting them to and from their homes. As the first ‘face they see’ each morning, my ultimate goal is to make sure their experiences are nothing but positive each and every day with a strong focus on their safety. “

Prior to his work at CMSD, Mr. Engoglia worked as a Unit Principal at Cleveland Heights University Heights School District and Middle School English teacher at West Geauga Schools.

“The core belief that ‘a new model for education places the learner at the center of the process’ has always been my mantra as an educator,” Mr. Engoglia said. “I’ve always taken that thinking a bit further, in believing we are all learners, (students, teachers, support staff, etc.) and that each of us has a unique role in improving the district and the community as a whole.”

An avid sports fan, especially the Guardians, Mr. Engoglia also enjoys Bocce, reading and spending time with his wife, Darlene, their grown children, Carmen, Gabrielle and Bernedoodle, Luigi.
