Vax-A-Million Scholarship Winner: Congratulations to MHS student Zoie Vincent
When MHS student Zoie Vincent woke up on June 2, 2021 little did she know how she would be the center of media attention by the end of the day.
Zoie's name was selected from a pool of more than 132,000 Ohioans between the ages of 12-17 in the second round of winners in Ohio's Vax-A-Million lottery.
As her luck would have it, Zoie won a scholarship that includes four years of tuition, books, room and board fully paid at any Ohio public university or college.
"I am so excited about this opportunity and my family and I were just overjoyed when we heard about it," said Zoie, who will be a senior next school year.
Zoie moved with her family to  Mayfield Village in 2018 from Columbus and enrolled as a freshman at Mayfield High School.
She is a Med-Tech student in the Excel TECC Medical Technologies program. Zoie plans to study Pre-Med in college to fulfill her dream to become a pediatrician. She is enrolled in AP courses and is a member of the National Technical Honors Society.
Zoie was eligible for the lottery after receiving at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The lottery is operated by The Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Lottery Commission.
In addition to nearly every local media outlet from Cleveland to Columbus reporting on Zoie's good fortune, she also interviewed with Good Morning America and zoomed in to speak to Governor DeWine during his press conference on June 3, 2021. See link below.
