Kindergarten Info

These are a few reminders for Mrs. Favazzo's Kindergarten Class:

  • Please pack a healthy snack each day to be eaten at our snack center.
  • Please make sure your child has an extra pair of clothes in a gallon ziploc bag to be kept at school in case of emergency. These are kept under their cubbies.
  • Check your child's Take Home Folder each day to see where their behavior clip was and praise them for their great efforts! Remember to send the folder back to school EACH day.
  • If it is above 20 degrees we will be going outside for recess. Make sure your little one has warm outdoor clothing. (hats, gloves, boots, snowpants with their name or initials on them)
  • If there is ever a change in your child's departure, please send a note or call the school office. All notes are to be given to the teacher first thing in the morning.
  • SMILE, SMILE, SMILE.... We will have a great year!

Kindergarten Sight Words

Kindergarten Sight Words

We will have 75 sight words to master in Kindergarten this year.  Each quarter we will focus on a certain number of words.  There will be focus words for the week.  Please make a note card at home of the sight words for the week to review nightly with your child.  Thank you for your support in your child's reading success.
Paths
This program stands for "promoting alternative thinking strategies."  We will choose a "paths" kid each week and give special compliments to that child.  We will learn all types of feelings and that all feelings are ok.  During Paths time throughout the year we will learn that friends: share, help and play.  A strategy to help us cope with issues is called "doing turtle."  We will practice this all year!  We love our Paths characters: Twiggle, Duke, Daphne and Henrietta!!
Building Confidence
These are things to practice at home to help build independence in your child:
  • Tying shoes
  •  Zipping coat
  • Opening and closing bookbag
  • Packing own bookbag with papers, lunch box, etc.
  • Practicing address, phone number and birthday
  • Following a 2-step direction
  • Listening the first time
