Fitness Testing

Fitness Testing

Grades 3-5 will complete the FitnessGram. We will do a pre-test towards the beginning of the year and we will do it again at the end of the year. The students will make goals after the pre-test and work to improve on each fitness component throughout the year. The fitness testing areas are as followed:

Pacer: The Pacer test measures aerobic endurance. The students will run 20 meters from one end of the gym to the other. Each minute the pace will get faster and will continue to do so the longer the student runs.

Curls ups: Students will perform a curl up where their shoulder blades must leave the mat and then return. The curl ups are done to a cadence on the FitnessGram cd.

Push ups: Students will perform a push up where there back and elbows must form a straight line when they lower themselves. During the push up nothing can touch the floor except for the students hands and feet. The push ups are done to a cadence on the FitnessGram cd.

Sit and Reach: The students will measure their hamstring flexibility by placing their feet flat against a wood box and reaching as far they can. They will receive three attempts to reach as far as possible. While reaching the students legs must remain locked out and they must hold their reach for three seconds.
