 This course is to introduce students to the Spanish language beginning with simple vocabulary words and phrases and then building upon those in order to have the students writing in complete sentences, short paragraphs, and summaries in concurrence at a novice proficiency level.

 Write paragraphs describing your ideal house or apartment.  Your house or apartment should have at least five different rooms. Add as many details as you can and make sure that you include the following information about your house and the different rooms that you have :

  • How many rooms (living areas) and bedrooms your ideal house or apartment has

  • Where the rooms in the house are located according to floors/levels in your house

  • What different furniture and belongings you have in each room

  • What activities you do in each room

  • Who lives there with you (family members and pets)

FINAL EXAM WRITING PORTION:
Write  four paragraphs describing your actual home or your dream home.  

Essay Requirements:

Four paragraphs total:

  • Paragraph 1: Describe your house: size, rooms and other features (pool, garage, garden, etc.), location (city?), people/animals living with you


  • Paragraphs 2, 3, 4: Describe THREE DIFFERENT rooms (example: living room, kitchen, and a bedroom).  Include details of interior, color, items in room, what floor it is on, and any activities you do in this room.

  • Additional requirements: include FIVE location expressions in your writing for either items or room locations (al lado de, delante de, etc.)


*Useful verbs: tener (to have), ser (to be), estar (to be—location), hay (there is/there are)

*Elaborate as much as you can.  This is your time to show me what you can do.

 El cuarto de mi hermano Luis
 Luis es mi hermano. Su cuarto está en el piso …. 
Su cuarto es pequeño pero tiene un armario grande para la ropa. Luis tiene muchos videojuegos. El duerme, descansa, estudia, y habla por teléfono en su cuarto. ….(you get the point, now begin studying!)
