AM/PM Procedures and Routines

Dear Millridge families,

Welcome back to Mustang country! We are excited to begin another year with you and your child. A large part of beginning each year is ensuring all are able to familiarize themselves with the routines and procedures of AM arrival and PM dismissal. Please take a few moments to read over our routines so that ALL will be safe in both the morning and afternoon.

AM Procedures and Routines

* We have numerous STOP signs within the grounds of Millridge. Safety of students and parents walking their children to school is of the utmost importance to us. Please ensure that you come to a complete stop at each sign on the property and be aware of any families and children using the crosswalks.

* Car drop off will occur along the same route as it has been in year’s past. The entrance will continue to be off of Brainard Road and the line will make its way down to the side entrance. Follow the line of cars to Door number 5, where building staff will greet students and allow them to enter the building. Please do not drop your students off at any other door or entrance to the school building. Students should only exit out of the passenger side of the vehicle to ensure their safety.

* If your child will arrive prior to 7:50, either through parent drop off or by bus, there are specified locations they will proceed to until they are permitted in homeroom. They are as follows:
o Grades K, 1, Grade 2 (George and Snow homerooms) - Gym
o Grade 2 (Lampson and Harris homerooms) - Library
o Grade 3 - Computer Lab
o Grades 4 and 5 - Cafeteria/Multi-Purpose Room

Please review these locations with your child so they know where to go on Tuesday
morning. We will also have staff present the first few days of school to help navigate our
students.

PM Procedures and Routines

* If your child rides the bus home, please be aware that students will now have assigned seating on the bus. This is for a variety of reasons, but primarily ensures that our students are accounted for before departure, and to allow for a more calm dismissal overall. Some general bus conduct rules to reinforce with your children:
o No head, arms, or any objects outside of bus windows
o Students must observe school and classroom conduct on the bus as well and obey the driver promptly and respectfully. Bus drivers command the same respect as other school personnel.
o No eating or drinking on the bus.
o Inappropriate language, physical violence, or bullying will not be tolerated.

* Parent pick-up in the afternoon follows the same route as the morning, but pick-up will occur outside of cafeteria door number 14. Again, if you are picking up your child in the afternoon, this is the only location you are permitted to do so. Cars will not be permitted to park on Millridge Road, as buses and other forms of school transportation require access to that route.

* Parent pick-up tags - All children being picked up by their parents or other family members are required to have a pick-up tag. These can be obtained beginning Monday afternoon at our Popsicles with the Principal event, and will also be available in our main office. If you do not have a parent pick-up tag by Tuesday afternoon, we will provide one to you at that time.

We thank you in advance for taking the time to review these procedures with your child and for your assistance in abiding by them to help keep our school safe for all.

Best wishes for a great school year!
