Mustang Message March 29th

Hello to all Millridge families and welcome back from Spring Break!

I hope you've been able to use this time away to find excitement and enjoyment in those closest to you.  While all being under the same roof can be challenging, I've heard a lot of great stories already about the creativity in how many connected as a family.  Keep it rolling!

On Monday, March 30th our teachers will again reach out to students with their first official assignments for remote learning.  We greatly appreciate all of the continued support in your child's education and know that with a strong partnership students will continue to thrive to the best of their ability.  If you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to reach out to a staff member - we are here to support you and will find a way to connect.  Students will receive work ranging from a larger project to smaller assignments.  Work will be inclusive of due dates so we can keep students on track to progress through the curriculum and pace their learning throughout the time we are away from Millridge Elementary School.

A few things to keep in mind that will create a sense of normalcy for students (and hopefully parents, too):

-  Try to keep a consistent schedule - that means waking up at a consistent time, engaging in school work at the same time each day, eating lunch around the same time, and concluding the school day at a regular time.  Time is the word of the day/week/month right now - let's all support each other in making sure we use time purposefully in this irregular situation.
-  Reach out to friends/classmates to collaborate if your student doesn't understand a concept or needs clarification on a problem/question/assignment.  We will absolutely be here for you as educators , but we know that it is still very important to connect with our friends, too!  Communicating with friends over an assignment can serve two purposes (connecting and learning together).
-  Incorporate some movement into the day.  Being inside all day can be tough, so take a walk if you can, get a dance party going, create an obstacle course, engage in creativity through art and check out the great resources Mrs. Vigliotti, Mr. Zaletel, and Mrs. Hillis put together.  These really important activities can activate different parts of the brain and can be a nice change of pace each day!

To conclude, let's connect by participating in a Virtual Spirit Week!!  Special thanks to PTG for putting this together!  Details can be found by clicking on this flyer and pic's can be shared on the PTG Facebook page!
