Fifth Grade
Welcome, Fifth Grade Families!
In fifth grade, students learn about many genres of music! From American popular music to music theater to opera, we put music in a historical and geographical context. All students attend a Cleveland Orchestra education concert, as well. We analyze the orchestra repertoire in detail and learn about appropriate audience behavior.
Students apply their music reading and analysis skills to singing and playing classroom instruments. As they grow in their skills, students play in ensembles with several parts.
Fifth grade music is a gateway to middle school. Next year, children will be a part of either the sixth grade chorus or the beginning band. To get ready for those groups, all Center students perform in our annual Fifth Grade Concert, held in March. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!
