Our preschool incorrporates different writing and phonics programs. "Handwriting Without Tears",is used to teach the children the proper way to hold a writing utensil and to form the letters. The program uses music, movement and multi sensory manipulative to teach the skills necessary for school age. The program allows us to teach many of Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards in the areas of mathematics and reading, and listening and speaking. We have also started to use some of the ideas from Fundations, which labels the paper lines in order to help the child learn where to stop and start the letters.
We also incorporate the program, "Phonics in Motion" created by, Terri Kindervater, to teach the letter sounds with motions.
The following is the order in which we teach the students the letters.
