COLLEGE CREDITS - Tech Prep
Two-year program: grades 11-12
 
Career Technical programs in lodging and travel service prepare learners for careers in management, marketing and operations of lodging facilities, meetings and events and travel-related services. Students will be ready for entry level employment and post-secondary education in pathways that relate to hospitality hotel management, restaurant and food/beverage services, lodging services, travel and tourism, recreation, amusement, and attractions.
 
Guest speakers from the industry and field experiences are included in regular class time. Seniors are permitted to work second semester in a hospitality-related position during program hours with permission and proper paperwork completed.

  • Education: Kent State University-BA/Elementary Education, CTE License; Master’s of Education; Certified Hospitality Instructor-American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute; ServSafe Manager Certification.
  • Work Experience: Instructor-Travel, Tourism & Hotel Management; Hospitality Industry (27 yrs): Madison County Club (15 yrs) -Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Server; Kirtland Country Club; Shoreby Club-Assistant Manager; Canterbury Golf Club-Clubhouse Manager; Lodge and Conference Center/Geneva-on-the-Lake-Food and Beverage Manager; Quaker Steak and Lube/Mentor-opening Marketing Manager.

Credits: Junior Year - 3 credits (2 Courses-1.5 credits each)
Senior Year - 3 credits (3 Courses-1 credit each)
