Fourth grade artists compare and contrast artworks from different cultures and eras, and can connect their own work to it. They combine the elements and principles of art to create visually effective work, using different tools and materials to reach their desired effect. When reflecting on their own work as well as the work of others, fourth graders use aesthetic understanding to identify the qualities that contribute to the design and meaning of the selected work.
