Second Grade
Welcome, Second Grade Families!
In second grade music, we sing, dance, and play more instruments. We begin learning to play xylophones! We listen to many kinds of music from around the country and around the world and begin to compare and contrast different types.
Second graders expand on their music reading skills. We learn more complex rhythms and explore patterns. We learn specific symbols on the music staff such as time signatures, bar lines, and the treble clef. Second graders compose their own short pieces, as well.
Second graders learn what a composer does and what a conductor does, and they learn simple conducting techniques.
