Parent update for the week of March 15, 2010.
- Please
make sure your child has the necessary school supplies. (Especially paper
and pencil)
- Donations of Tissues and Clorox Wipes are
greatly appreciated. Most classrooms are completely out of both tissues
and Clorox wipes.
- Even
though your child may not have homework in a given subject, it is expected
he/she studies the lesson taught each evening.
- Daily
homework assignments are posted daily on the school website under the
teachers webpage and also on Progress Book.
- If
your child is absent from school, it is your child’s responsibility to
complete the missing work. You can view the class work for the day by
logging onto each teacher’s webpage or by logging onto Progress Book.
- You
can check your child’s progress anytime by logging onto

- Please save “Box Tops for Education” A new
contest will start soon.
- Please make sure your child’s coat has his/her name
clearly written in the coat. The lost/found has a large amount of FOUND
items no one is claiming. Students are permitted to check the lost/found
daily. Please remind your child to check the lost/found if your child is
missing a coat.
Parent/Teacher
communication is very important. Please check your child’s agenda each evening.
We try very hard to stay on schedule.
However, there are times when changes to the assignments may be made.

We will be reviewing skills that,
after I reviewed the Practice Oat Test, we need extra practice on. We will also be beginning the skill of
connotation and denotation.
Connotation- an idea or feeling that a word makes person feel in
addition to its literal or primary meaning. Denotation is its actual dictionary meaning. Please be working on your iread
Projects!!! They are due Friday,
March 19!!!!

During the week of March 15th, we
will be working on dictionary skills and character traits, in class. We will have a new spelling list this
week. All of the words are
homophones (Words that are spelled different and have different meanings but
sound the same.). This week's
homework is to write those words in sentences that will show the student's know
the meaning of each word. Spelling
test will be on Friday.

We will be reviewing for our Short
Cycle Assessment on 3/16/10. Then we will start our next Unit on Data
Analysis. Please check my webpage
and Progress Book for homework assignments. Class time is also provided for
your child to write the assignment in his/her agenda book.

We will continue reviewing for our Short Cycle
Assessment #5 on 3/17 We will not have homework on
Thursday due to short cycle testing. Please study the vocabulary lists that have been
made in class from pages 264, 280, and 292. These will also be turned in on 3/17. After our SCA we will begin our scientific investigation and technology
unit.

We will begin our unit on government
by watching a video titled "What Is Government?" Students will answer
questions about government based on the video. We will also read this week in
our booklet "Citizenship and Government In Ohio." Tuesday's homework
is a worksheet titled "Main Idea." It is due on Wednesday.
