The mission of the Mayfield City School’s transportation department is "To ensure a safe and dependable school bus ride to and from school to all eligible students. Our department’s services ultimately support a positive learning experience for every student, every day, without exception.” Our Route Operations goal is “To provide an efficient school bus ride on every trip.” Our Fleet Operations goal is “To provide and maintain the vehicles necessary to support a safe bus ride on every trip.” Our training and safety goal is to educate all Transportation employees on what it means and takes to provide a safe school bus ride. Mayfield school bus and van drivers are all certified and licensed according to the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles Licensing regulations. Our drivers are also required to pass all state and federal background checks. Drivers also receive ongoing training each year and are tested and recertified by the Ohio Department of Education every 6 years.
Currently, Mayfield's drivers transport approximately 2,500 students daily to over 20 public and non-public schools with 59 buses and 3 vans. Our Transportation Department is responsible for transporting eligible students who live in Mayfield Heights, Highland Heights, Mayfield Village or Gates Mills Village. Our vehicles travel an average of 2600 miles per day completing regular am/pm home-to-school runs, field trips, athletic and extracurricular trips.
