Business Services, along with Finance (Treasurer's Office), Personnel, Curriculum, Public Relations, and Special Pupil Services, are major departments of the central administration of the Mayfield City School District. The Business Services Department consists of four major divisions: Business Administration (Office of the Director of Business Services), Food Services, Buildings and Grounds, and Transportation.
Broadly stated, the Business Services Department serves and supports the educational mission, goals, and objectives of the school district embodied in the slogan – Every Student - Every Day . This entails transporting pupils to and from school, including field trips and athletic events, administering the school lunch program, and operating and maintaining the district's school buildings.
Did you know?
The District's 4100+ students are educated in school buildings comprising more than 850,000 square feet, and are situated on approximately 120 acres in four communities: Gates Mills, Mayfield Village, Mayfield Heights, and Highland Heights.
These facilities are maintained by the 51 employees of the Buildings & Grounds Division. Thanks to the past generosity of Mayfield School District citizens, the District is embarking on facility additions and renovations at Mayfield High School, Mayfield Middle School, Center Elementary and Millridge Elementary schools. As a result of these renovations, the school buildings will be more efficient, better able to deliver curricular programming, and will be much safer for students, staff and visitors. Gates Mills Elementary School enjoyed renovations several years ago, and Lander Elementary School's additions and renovations were completed in the summer of 2010. The upcoming renovations will be completed within two years.
The District provides transportation services throughout approximately 28 square miles to over 2,500 students daily to and from 20 different public and non-public schools using 59 buses and 3 vans. Services include transport to & from: school, numerous locations to serve special pupil education needs, and hundred of athletic and academic field trips and events. The Transportation Division has 57 employees. Vehicle maintenance is performed largely in-house by the district's three mechanics.
Food Service Division, provides over 200,000 nutritious meals annually to the district's students and staff. Food Services employs 31 staff and is entirely self-supporting and does not rely on district subsidies!
The Business Services Department also manages processes that enhance the safety of students, staff, and visitors on school district property.
While "Every Kid, Every Day" is our core mission, safety is one cornerstone of Mayfield's Quality Initiative. We will maintain a safety and health program conforming to the very best standards and practices of Ohio Schools.
