Two year program

The Early Childhood Education program prepares students to fill a vital role in the education of young children. This program teaches content knowledge and essential teaching skills necessary to become a professional ready to work with children of all ages. High school students receive the opportunity to teach and care for young children in many different child care, preschool and elementary school settings. The first year stresses basic skills needed to work with children while the second year, the students expand their experiences with opportunities to work with children birth through school-age, including children with special needs. Music, art, storytelling, along with health, safety, classroom management and guidance skills are included in the curriculum. Completion of this program leads into an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or direct employment in the field. Many students also pursue a four-year degree in Early Childhood Education or another related field.
