"We have much success, but more work to do."

Dear Mayfield Community,

Five months ago, I joined the "Mayfield Family" as the Superintendent of Schools.

Let me say, "Wow!"

Mayfield is a powerhouse school system supported by four vibrant communities.
What I have observed in this short time is how Mayfield’s excellence stretches from one classroom to the next at the elementary, middle and high school buildings and onto the campus and classrooms of our consortiums at Excel TECC, CEVEC and Millridge Center for the Hearing Impaired.

I’ve seen first-hand how the strength of Mayfield does not end in the classroom. Our students excel on the athletic field and stage, on the track and in the Pride of Mayfield Wildcat Band. Our alumni offer us their support and show our schools and communities how a strong education can lead to great success.

Thanks to ongoing voter support, our campus and buildings have the tools, technology and updates necessary for 21st century education

These are exciting times for Mayfield’s students, staff, parents and community.

In October, the Ohio Department of Education named Mayfield City Schools an "Excellent with Distinction" school system for the fourth consecutive year. In September, Wildcat Park opened its gates. Through the tireless work of Wildcat Park parent and community volunteers Mayfield’s athletes, band, alumni and communities have a complex for this and future generations.

These are Mayfield’s laurels, but it is not time to rest. In education, it never is that time. There is too much at stake.

As Mayfield’s superintendent I accept the challenge to continue Mayfield City Schools along its path of excellence, but we have much work to do.

Many changes and challenges are facing us. Education has become an evolution of changing state mandates, school funding and state standards and testing, to name a few. Our steadfast goal is to meet these challenges with only one outcome: student achievement.

Speaking on behalf of the administrative team, teachers, and staff we know our work ahead is great, but as the educators of the children of this community, it is the greatest work we can do.

I look forward to meeting more of you as I acclimate to our schools and communities.

I urge you to contact me with questions, concerns or comments. I can be reached by phone: 440.995.7210, e-mail: kkelly@mayfieldschools.org or on Twitter: Keith Kelly@suptmayfield.

Best to you this new year.

Dr. Keith Kelly,

Superintendent of Schools
