Parent update for the week beginning December 6, 2010

 

·      Please be sure your child has the necessary school supplies. (Especially paper and pencil)

·      Interim Reports went home Friday, December 3, 2010

·      Holiday Shoppe, December 6th  – 10th.

·      2 hour EARLY release Thursday, December 16, 2010.

·      Monday, January 3, 2011 Return to school.

·      Your child will have math homework everyday!!

·      Your child is expected to read aloud to you for a minimum of 15 minutes everyday.

·      Even though your child may not have homework in a given subject, it is expected he/she studies the lesson taught each day.

·      You may view your child’s progress daily by visiting

www.hamilton-local.k12.oh.us . Click “Parents & Students”, and then click “Progress Book.

·      You may view your child’s homework assignments by visiting www.hamilton-local.k12.oh.us Click on “Schools”, select “Hamilton Intermediate School”, then click on “Teacher Websites”.

·      The 2010-11 School Calendar and weekly lunch menu can be found on the Hamilton website.

·      Please check our webpages frequently. We are always adding new information and helpful websites to help your child.

 

Parent/Teacher communication is very important.  Please check your child’s agenda each evening.  We try very hard to stay on schedule.  However, there are times when changes to assignments may be made.

We will be reviewing skills for the SCA #3 on Monday, December 13.  Skills that will be on the Test are:  Compare/Contrast, Fact/Opinion, Prefix/Suffix, and Inferencing/ Drawing Conclusions.  There will be a study guide passed out this week that students need to be studying.  There will be a short homework assignment passed out on Monday and it is due On Tuesday.  There will also be a short review skill quiz on Friday.

No vocabulary until we get back from Holiday Break :).  This week we are going to continue to work on our Compare and Contrast Essays (final draft due Friday).  Homework on Wednesday. SCA #3 Monday Dec. 13th.

We will continue to learn about informational reports and verbs.  Spelling contract 11 will come home on Monday and be due on Friday when they take their test.  Also on Thursday, the study guide to SCA 3 will come home to prepare for the test next week.

We will begin reviewing for our Changes in the  Earth's Surface Short Cycle Assessment on December 14th.  Study Guides will be going out on Tuesday December 7th. There will be homework on Thursday.

Students will learn the steps Ohio took to become a state, and complete a worksheet to check their understanding of what they read. This also gives practice in how to go back and reread for information. We will also review cause and effect. Students will receive their study guide for SCA 3 on Wednesday. They need to study every night for the test on Wednesday, December 15th. Tuesday's homework is a worksheet on homographs. It is due on Wednesday.
