NEWSWEEK NAMES MAYFIELD HIGH ONE OF THE BEST IN THE NATION
Newsweek named Mayfield High School one of the best high schools in the U.S. following a study of more than 1,000 of the top schools.
New methodology used included analysis of six components: graduation rate (25%), college matriculation rate (25%), and AP tests taken per graduate (25%), plus average SAT/ACT scores (10%), average AP/IB scores (10%), and AP courses offered per graduate (5%). Newsweek released the report on June 19th.
Mayfield High School principal Anthony Loewer said the report tells him what he already knows.
"We have hard-working, interested, smart students at Mayfield who are taught by hard- working, interested, smart teachers," Mr. Loewer said. "Our staff and administrators work together to focus on goals, like improving literacy across the curriculum. Of course I am happy about this honor, but I'm happiest for our students who are learning and who are prepared for life."
