FIFTH GRADE GIFT TO THE SCHOOL

Traditionally over the past fifteen years, our Gates Mills fifth grade class have raised money through various fundraisers for an end-of-year camp out or all day Cleveland field trip.  With the monies left over, they have always given something back to our school. Donations have included new school entrance signs, soccer goals and new outdoor benches for the playground, etc.  This year, our fifth grade class voted to replace the old (probably original) drinking fountain outside the office with a new cold water fountain. The class wrote letters to Dr. Kelly, Frank Sever, Steve Evans, Mrs. Bender and Mr. Tripodo (our custodian) requesting permission to replace the antique relic in the hallway. The new drinking fountain was installed within a few days of being approved last week, much to the delight of all Gates Mills staff and students.  THANKS AGAIN TO OUR AWESOME GATES MILLS FIFTH GRADERS!!

TAPED TO THE WALL!!!

The fifth grade class had another fund raiser today! The students could pay $1.00 to tape Mrs. Bender and Mr. Mancine, our fifth grade student teacher, to the wall! It was a HUGE success! Thank you for being such a good sport Mrs. Bender and Mr. Mancine…and thank you Gates Mills for supporting our fifth grade class!

Pennies for Patients Breaks Record & Touches Hearts!!

Just when we thought last year's Pennies for Patients success couldn't be topped, the Gates Mills Elementary family has gone above and beyond!  We have counted, tallied and deposited loads of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollars for a very worthwhile cause.  But two extraordinary things happened during this fund-raising campaign that are worth more than gold.

Recently, Mayfield contracted with Rumpke for both trash removal and recycling services.  We are one of the first two buildings in the district to initiate this comprehensive recycling program.  The recycling container was delivered on Monday, November 12th, and is located next to the trash dumpster by the gym entrance door.  You can recycle the following items in our  new recycling container:  glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard, metal cans and cartons (i.e., milk, juice, etc.).  The following items are not acceptable for recycling:  plastic bags, garbage, food, yard waste, electronics, buckets, food trays, syringes, light bulbs, batteries, dishes, pots and pans, and any plastics that are not bottles.  A detailed flyer is located on our website in the November 11 - 16 Friday Folder Information.
