Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,

House Bill 96 (HB 96), established Ohio Revised Code §3301.24, which requires all Ohio school districts, community (charter) schools, and STEM schools to adopt a formal policy governing the use of artificial intelligence by July 1, 2026.

In compliance with this requirement, the Mayfield City School District Board of Education adopted Artificial Intelligence Policy 7540.09 on June 24, 2026. This policy is available in BoardDocs and can also be accessed through the Technology Department section of the district website. 

Information Security Policy Update

Previously, on December 17, 2025, Mayfield City Schools adopted Board Policy 8305 – Information Security to strengthen district data protection and cybersecurity practices. In alignment with HB 96, this policy includes required training for staff:

• Training M-099: Cybersecurity Training for Administrators
   Required for all new administrative hires and completed annually by administrators.
• Training M-049: Cybersecurity Awareness
   Required for all new hires and completed annually by all staff members. 

All staff email accounts have had 2 factor authentication enabled since 2022.
