Mayfield City Schools is a public school district serving the communities of Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights, Gates Mills, and Mayfield Village in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. The district serves students from preschool through 12th grade with a focus on academic excellence, personalized learning, and strong community partnerships.

Our District
Mayfield City Schools serves approximately 4,100 students across seven schools and two consortium programs, including:

  • Mayfield High School (grades 9–12)
  • Mayfield Middle School (grades 6–8)
  • Four neighborhood elementary schools: Center, Gates Mills, Lander, and Millridge (grades K–5)
  • A district preschool program
  • Excel TECC, Technical Education Career Consortium is a regional career and technical education program that provides high school students with hands-on, real-world learning experiences aligned to today’s workforce needs.

Academic and Program Highlights

The district offers a comprehensive range of academic and extracurricular opportunities designed to meet the needs of all learners.

  • Mayfield High School provides Advanced Placement, honors, and College Credit Plus coursework, along with career and technical education opportunities through Excel TECC partnerships. 

Mayfield High School’s personalized learning pathways provide students with flexible options that align learning to individual interests, strengths, and postsecondary goals.

Students may pursue one or more of the following personalized pathways:

  • The Option
  • Cross-Curricular Pathway
  • Learn & Earn
  • Excel TECC
  • Traditional Pathway

With guidance from counselors and educators, students may follow a single pathway or blend multiple options to create a personalized high school experience that prepares them for college, careers, military service, or direct entry into the workforce.

 

  • Elementary and middle school students engage in project-based learning, STEAM experiences, and a variety of elective offerings that support both academic growth and personal development.
  • Mayfield Preschool provides an early learning foundation for children prior to kindergarten. The program focuses on social, emotional, cognitive, and motor skill development through play-based and structured learning activities.
  • Cubs Club Early Learning Program - At Mayfield, we believe every child deserves a strong start. Through Cubs Club and our partnership with Footsteps2Brilliance, we empower families and equip young children with the tools, skills, and confidence they need to thrive in kindergarten and beyond. Together, we are building the foundation for lifelong learning—for every child, every day.

Recognition, Performance, and Community Support
Mayfield City Schools consistently earns high marks on the Ohio State Report Card, including a 5-star overall rating for achievement and progress. Schools within the district are regularly recognized at the state and national levels for academic performance, innovation, and student outcomes.

In addition, the district’s most recent levy request (November 2024) was approved by voters, reflecting strong community confidence in Mayfield City Schools. This support allows the district to maintain high-quality programming, retain exceptional staff, and continue investing in safe, well-maintained facilities while remaining fiscally responsible.

Strong family and community engagement plays a vital role in supporting student success across all grade levels.
