Quizzes and Surveys

Using the Quiz Component

You have the ability to create a quiz using the website. After logging into CMS, select Survey/Quiz/Form instead of Content Management. This is where you will create your Survey/Quiz/Form . To create a quiz click on the add quiz button.

You can give your quiz a title and description. You can see in the example below where those will both appear as they have been labeled.

If you select to make the results private, only your account will have the ability to see the results.

If you check the box to make the quiz anonymous, it will hide the "your name" and "your email" boxes at the end of the quiz and the results of the quiz will be anonymous.

Passing Grade is set to default at 60%. You may raise or lower that percent based upon your needs.

Passing and Failing Message/URL. If a quiz taker passes, you can select to have a message appear offering congratulations or insert  URL taking the quiz taker to a website of your choosing. The same applies to a quiz taker that fails. You can wish to have a message appear notifying them they did not pass or a URL directing them to a website of your choice.

You also have the choice to make the question required or not. If the question is required then the quiz taker must answer the question before submitting their results.

When entering a question, you will see the box to the right asking you to enter the question. When creating a quiz you have to remember that questions must be done in a multiple choice format. You can enter as many responses as you wish, but you can only select one answer to be the correct choice.

Create as many questions as you like and save the quiz. To view the quiz on your webpage, when adding a new component, select quiz then edit the component and add the quiz that you created.

When viewing the example below, you will see that when created the Anonymous box was not checked and the quiz taker will have to provide a name and email. They will also have to answer a simple math problem to validate a human being took the quiz.

Using the Survey Component

You have the ability to create a survey using the website. After logging into CMS, select Survey/Quiz/Form instead of Content Management. This is where you will create your Survey/Quiz/Form . To create a survey click on the add survey button. It is very similar to a quiz with only some subtle differences.

You can give your survey a title and description. You can see in the example below where those will both appear as they have been labeled.

As was with creating a quiz, you may make a survey results private or anonymous.

The major difference between a quiz and a survey is that a quiz will automatically be graded. A quiz is only multiple choice styled questions enabling it to be graded where a survey has the ability to be answered via yes/no, dropdown list, checkboxes, document upload, or free text (extended response). You cannot select a correct answer when creating your survey.
